Catfish are marine and saltwater fishes that are widely distributed in tropical and temperate waters and are usually found near the coast, estuaries and inland waters. Catfish usually look for river mouths and lagoons during the spawning period. They include a wide feeding spectrum and the diet usually consists of detritus, decapods, fishes, polybranchs and bivalves. Reproduction is usually during the warm months of the year or during the rainy season, when the main absorption usually takes place from the rivers. It is usually marketed as fresh, dried and salted meat.
