Indian tuna belongs to the Scomboridae family and is usually found abundantly in the coastal areas of the Indian Ocean as well as in the waters of the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf, especially in summer. After sardines, this species accounts for 7.2% of the total marine fish catch. This type of fish is one of the most accessible and economical fish that is sold in the markets of different countries and is available in many local dishes. This fish is characterized by blue-green color on the back, silvery sides and golden color. The size of the fish varies in length and reaches 21.7 cm at the age of 8.6 months. In addition, this fish is characterized by dark muscles due to the high content of myoglobin and lipids. Also, this fish is a fatty fish and a good source of marine lipids. Therefore, increasing the consumption of this fish is beneficial for human health.
