This species is widely found in the Indo-Pacific region from shallow coastal waters to the edge of the continental shelf from depths of 10 to 70 m, with a maximum length of 240 cm reported. Also, this species is usually caught by net fleets from the gills in the coastal waters with the largest amount in Iran, India and Indonesia, and because of its delicious meat, it is considered one of the most consumed and popular sea food sources in the world.
